Women in WASM band together
The women of Curtin University’s WA School of Mines have banded together to create an all-inclusive environment for women in the mining industry.
Women of WASM guild president and mine engineering student Emilie Ntolla organised the guild’s first event of the year on March 7 to celebrate International Women’s Day.
The event included four female guest speakers, 24 female staff and students, and two supporting men.
Ms Ntolla, who has also come from a mining background at a university in France, said she was surprised to see barely any women in mining when she arrived at the Kalgoorlie campus.
