Premiership hero Waters in contention for return to Eagles

A favourite son could make a shock return to West Coast with premiership defender Beau Waters linked to a role on the board.

The West Australian understands Waters has been involved in conversations about potentially filling one of two vacancies which are set to open up on the Eagles board this year.

Former Australian Test opener and coach Justin Langer and Rokt president and chief operating officer Terry Bowen will have to vacate their seats because they will have served the maximum nine-year terms.

Langer joined the Eagles as a director on July 1, 2017, just a few months after Bowen, who was appointed on May 1, meaning their tenures will end shortly.

Waters has carved out a strong business career since he retired from the AFL in 2015 after 120 games because of a shoulder injury.
