No fear, no doubt: How star Docker overcame injury anxiety
Fremantle star Hayden Young has revealed that accepting the reality that injuries are a part of sport was a career-changing moment that has allowed him to now play without fear or hesitation.
Young has played only 12 of Fremantle’s past 31 games after a series of soft tissue and leg injuries since the end of 2024. The midfielder hasn’t played four games in a row since breaking his leg in round 23 2024 without getting hurt.
Young will return to the scene of one of his most serious injuries, with a torn hamstring against St Kilda at Marvel Stadium in May last year keeping him sidelined for 11 weeks.
Friday night’s game against the Western Bulldogs will be his third game back from another hamstring injury but Young said he’s reached the point where he can step onto the field without any worries in the back of his mind.
