Healthcare system is not delivering quality care to everyone
For 30 years, I’ve lived with a chronic kidney disorder requiring regular dialysis.
Despite this challenge,I’ve never missed a sitting day of Parliament — a privilege I attribute to having consistent access to specialist care. Many Australians aren’t so fortunate.
I have learned to trust medical specialists with my health and life. These professionals have provided me with world-class care through complex treatments and difficult periods. This trust between patient and specialist is the foundation of effective health care.
Yet as both a patient and parliamentarian, I can no longer trust that our healthcare system is working effectively to deliver this same quality care to all Australians.
