‘Embarrassed & ashamed’: Oscar’s apology for teammates, fans
An emotional Oscar Allen says he felt “embarrassed and ashamed” addressing West Coast teammates in the wake of his meeting with Hawthorn coach Sam Mitchell, and apologised to Eagles fans for letting them down.
Allen fronted the media on Thursday alongside Eagles head of football John Worsfold, with the club calling the unscheduled press conference amid a turbulent week where it was revealed the spearhead had met with Sam Mitchell.
As he confirmed he would continue in his role as co-captain, Allen said “it was quite difficult” to talk to the playing group earlier on Thursday.
