Composer blurs genres with soul-awakening sound

Greeting the crowd to a welcoming applause, the lone musician carefully dons a pair of gloves, wets them in a nearby bucket and takes a seat at his throne, surrounded by an impressive set-up of keyboards, synthesisers, amps and a conspicuously intriguing glass harmonica.

He lifts his hands above the spindle-looking device (made of glass bowls, producing sound through friction) and delivers an eerie, tranquil melody to the hushed crowd.

Held at the formerly defunct East Perth Power Station, the Berlin-based pianist, composer and producer unveiled his unique fusion of classical and ambient-electronic music in a mesmerising display of talent.
