Aspen swoops on Albemarle workers camp
An unused upmarket workers’ camp built to support US lithium giant Albemarle’s expansion in WA’s South West will be converted into rental units and a lifestyle village for over-50s under a $32.5 million sale to accommodation provider Aspen.
Aspen on Wednesday said it agreed a purchase of the 18-hectare Paris Grove village in Australind, near Bunbury, which was put on the market last year after Albemarle iced the expansion of its nearby Kemberton lithium plant amid weak prices for the battery metal.
The village includes 386 furnished rooms with ensuites divided between 67 transportable buildings, as well as a clubhouse and dining room and kitchen, storage sheds, laundries and 600 parking bays.
